Andy White
I’m a self-represented artist from North Vancouver, BC, Canada. Thank you for taking the time to view my artwork and website.
I attribute my visual language & style from having grown up in the ever-changing horizon of Vancouver.
As a young man, my interest in the arts grew when I attended the Artists for Kids Summer Art Camp in North Vancouver with guest artist Ross Penhall. In high school, photography quickly became my primary medium as I was immersed in the digital arts during the formative years of the North Vancouver School District’s Digital Media Academy.
This ultimately led to pursuing post-secondary education at the Langara College Continuing Studies Photography Program (2009) & University of British Columbia Bachelor of Fine Arts (2014) with a focus in photography, digital art & printmaking.
Alongside my artistic practice, I compete in the track & field event of javelin. During my studies at UBC, I competed as a varsity athlete (Academic-All Canadian & 4x NAIA All-American).
I’ve also had the honour and privilege to represent Canada Internationally, and have achieved 1st place at the Canadian Track & Field Championships in 2023 & 2024.
Being an artist and an athlete, may, at first, appear as seemingly opposing interests. However, this is vantage affords inspiration. Naturally I am drawn to contrasting forces and their intersection: urban/nature; day/night; past/future; absence/presence.
Currently, I’m overseas in Germany pursuing my MBA in Global Leadership & Sustainability, all the while underway on series “VII” for project sixo four blue & training for track & field.
